Ron Haley hooks largest bass at the Joe Cronin Memorial Fishing Tournament
For the past several years my son and I plus some of my sons friends have fished the Cronin Memorial Fishing Tournament for the Jimmy Fund. Over $300,000 has been raised every year for over the past 10 years . Here is a picture taken at the dock in Sesuit on the stern of our boat Shannon Sea. We fished off Sandy Neck with tube & worm. I am having help holding my bass, 36.6 lbs on the right. I won the largest bass in the Tournament for 2012 . Appox 66 boats were entered A great day. Best, Ron

Salties Letter to the Editor - Cape Cod Times
_In response to your November 11th. front page article “Striper fishing restrictions put on hold”, the Cape Salties Sportfishing Club makes the following statement.
The Cape Cod Salties is a fishing club made up of more than 300 members. As responsible fishermen who love our sport, we are concerned about the sustainability of the striped bass population.
It is a recognized fact that the recreation catch of striped bass has been in serious decline over the past several years. According to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, the recreation striper catch has declined as much as 75%.
Although there has been some difference of opinion regarding the health of the striped bass population, the alarming drop of 75% in the recreational catch over the past several years requires a proactive response to protect a valuable fish species. We feel it is better to react conservatively until ongoing studies can provide answers to why there is a sharp decline in the striped bass population
We believe that as responsible fishermen, we should do everything in our power to ensure the health of the striped bass fishery.
To that end, the Cape Cod Salties at a recent meeting voted unanimously to encourage all members to practice catch and release or at a minimum reduce their fish catch from two fish per day, currently allowed by law, to one fish per day.
We strongly urge all responsible fishermen to do likewise and we hope other fishing clubs will join us in this effort.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2011 OFF-SHORE IGFA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
LOCAL HOOKER RODS built the rods the WET DREAM FISHING TEAM used to win the 2011 OFF-SHORE IGFA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, the tournament many refer to as the Olympics of Big-Game Fishing.
“While some billfish tournaments have six figure payouts, this International Game Fish Association (IGFA) event offers no prize money. “The tournament is meant to test the angler’s skills on a level playing field. You compete for the pride of your country and bragging rights, not cash,” said Mike Myatt, COO of the IGFA.”
The IGFA/International Game Fish Association’s 12th annual Offshore World Championship in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, brought together the world’s most elite offshore fishing teams. To get to Cabo, The Wet Dream Fishing Team won the prestigious Islamorada Fishing Club’s Captain’s Cup sailfish tournament using Local Hooker Rods. “We have been fishing and punishing Local Hooker Rods for over a year; they perform flawlessly. We’ve never had a problem.” Said Sammy Worden, 1st Mate of The Wet Dream.
60 teams from 25 countries competed in this year’s event!
Just getting into the field of the IGFA Offshore World Championship is a feat in itself. In order to be invited (No, you can’t buy your way in, this is invitation to the best-of-the-best only), a fishing team must win one of the 130 qualifying events fished each year in nearly every corner of the seven seas.
The Wet Dream Fishing Team used Local Hooker rods for all of their catches – the same gear the team uses successfully in sailfish tournaments in the Keys. “Local Hooker makes a unique ‘acid wrap’ design that changes the angle of the eyes so that while the eyes start on top like most conventional rods, by the time they get to the tip they have rotated 180 degrees, resulting in superior handling and performance. We feel our equipment was the very best, and it proved to be so…” Capt. Kevin Clark, Owner of the Wet Dream.
